5 Self-Care Stocking Stuffers

On Christmas morning, my sister and I would sit in front of the tree, waiting for my family to wake up, and admire all the pristinely wrapped presents.

Each year, we were allowed to ask for 2 gifts. (That number increased to 3 as we got older and didn’t outgrow toys and clothes as quickly.) I’d point to which box I thought was my American Girl Doll and we’d shake multiple bags until we had a guess as to which held our MyScene DVD’s. When our parents and grandparents would finally wake up and allow us to start opening presents, we’d work through all the presents under the tree until we had a heap of wrapping paper on the floor and many happy faces.

Lastly, we’d go to our stockings. Back then, stockings meant one thing: CANDY. Sometimes my mom would throw in a lip gloss or lotion (some of which I still have…oops) and it was just a great “cherry on top” of the whole Christmas morning.

Nowadays, I still love getting treats in my stocking, but treats for me are little things that help me to live a happier, healthier life. If you’re like me and love a good, relaxing afternoon or evening, these are some stocking stuffers to give or get.

Mario Badescu Face Mask

I’m OBSESSED with this face mask. (Big shoutout to Rachel for getting it for me as a gift!) Maybe because it’s green, which is, to me, the universal face mask color. It makes my skin so cool, clear, and soft, so I love putting this on while I unwind for the evening. It’s tiny and under $20, so it’s a great stocking stuffer!

Adult Coloring Book

If you don’t have one, get one. In fact, get two. One for you, and one for a friend. Nowadays, you can find these at almost any grocery store, craft store, and online as well if you prefer to shop that way. I got mine on sale at Target, but there are pocket sized and smaller ones that would fit great in a stocking!

Watercolors

Anything that keeps your hands and minds busy is great for self-care time. We spent so much time studying, working, and maybe even worrying, that one of the greatest gifts to give ourselves is distraction. Along with the adult coloring book and sketching, I love painting with watercolors (if you haven’t noticed on my Instagram) and you can find inexpensive sets at craft stores. They even have travel sets!

Tea

Tea is the BEST thing you can sip on when you need a little relaxation, and better yet – it’s super easy to put it in a stocking! Buy loose leaf from your favorite local shop or grab some great tea bags from Target or Whole Foods.

Journal

One of the best ways to de-stress and live a happier life is to journal. I like to write goals, mantras, and lots and lots of lists. My favorite thing is getting a new journal. Anthropologie has some adorable ones from Rifle Paper Co and so does Target!

What self-care stocking stuffer will you give? Which do you want to try?
