50 Random Facts About Me

I feel like ever since I’ve kind of re-vamped the blog, there have been some new faces! It’s crazy how much I feel like ya’ll are my blog family, and at the same time, I feel like we don’t know enough about each other. I love the 50 Random Facts tag on YouTube, so I thought I’d do it over here. And in return, you can tell me some random things about yourself in the comments, so I can know ya better!

 

  1. I used to be ADDICTED to Diet Coke. I drank it in the morning instead of coffee, and now that sounds so gross. I think when I first started my blog I was still an addict, so if you scroll way back on my Instagram feed there’s probably several Diet Coke cans pictured.
  2. I hate puzzles. Probably because I suck at them. And I really don’t like doing things I’m not good at, but I’m trying to get over that.
  3. I was in a commercial for my aunt and uncle’s store. The commercial was all in Spanish and only aired in Honduras, so I’ve never been able to watch it or show it to people which makes it sound like I made it up!
  4. I have a scar on my left hand from where I cat bit me when I was babysitting when I was 12.
  5. I used to try to sleep in my splits when I was a dancer because I wanted to have perfect flexibility.
  6. I love being outside, but I hate smelling like outside.
  7. I am afraid of jack-in-the-boxes even though I know when they are going to pop out. (*cue the scene from Elf*)
  8. In second grade, I fell off the counter I was standing on trying to get a mug for milk and I had to wear an ice pack in my pants to school for a couple weeks. I was so injured, I couldn’t sit on the floor with the rest of the kids. I had to stay in my seat and sit on a pillow!
  9. For the third grade play, the part I wanted the most was to play the mom. I got the part and was so happy to be bossy and wear an apron.
  10. I almost went to the University of Iowa to major in English and be on the dance team.
  11. The high school I graduated from, I only went to for my senior year. It was a private Christian school and I LOVED wearing uniforms and having chapel Wednesday mornings. I miss it so much and wish I went there all through high school!
  12. My sister, Caroline, and I get asked if we are twins all the time, and when people find out we aren’t actually twins, they always think she’s older. (But I’m 2 years older!)
  13. I’m really close to my Dad. I want to be like him when I grow up!!
  14. When my parents first met Cam’s parents, they kept saying how Cam’s mom looked so familiar, but couldn’t figure out where they’d seen her before. Months later, Cam noticed a piece of painted pottery in my room. Turns out, his mother had owned the studio I painted it at and we used to go there all the time! So it’s possible I had seen Cam years before we actually became friends and then dated.
  15. Cam and I planned for him to ask me out on November 15th because 15 was his favorite number.
  16. When I was younger I was OBSESSED with Jesse McCartney in the way that some people nowadays are obsessed with One Direction. I had SO many posters in my room.
  17. I either get told I look like Hilary Duff or Leighton Meester. I’m ok with either of those!!
  18. A lot of people can’t figure out what nationality I am. Some people say I look 100% American and some people think I’m Asian. I am 50% Honduran and my mom is from the states.
  19. No, I am not fluent in Spanish.
  20. I haven’t had un-painted toenails in 6 years. I just don’t like the way my toenails look without polish haha!!
  21. I was a drill team officer in high school and it was one of the most challenging and rewarding positions.
  22. I’m a literature nerd. I LOVE Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, and anything Greek mythology.
  23. I ALMOST got certified to be a Zumba instructor, but then I was transferring so I didn’t. I really hope the opportunity comes along again because I think it would be so fun!
  24. Oddly enough, I think my favorite food ever is tuna salad.
  25. I’m obsessed with libraries and churches. When I’m in a new town, I like to wander around those if I can find them!
  26. My favorite place in the world is Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
  1. I didn’t get a cell phone until my freshman year of high school, and I didn’t get an iPhone until I was a junior in high school.
  2. If I could have any job in the world, I would own a coffee shop that also sold art, flowers, and stationary. But I wouldn’t do any work, I would just drink coffee and admire the art, flowers, and stationary.
  3. I plan on working for myself at some point in my life. I’m in an entrepreneurship class now and I’m learning to write business plans and pitch to investors. Plus, my dad is doing exactly that for real right now, and I’ve gone to seminars with him a lot!
  4. I’m insanely good with state capitols. Please comment a state in the comments and I will give you the capitol. (PROMISE I won’t Google!!)
  5. If I could swap lives with someone for a day, I would probably be Mary Kate Robertson because I love her style and I think it would be cool to live in Virginia and have a super cute dog for a day.
  1. Speaking of dogs, I would love to adopt one some day, but I absolutely HAVE to have a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. (The black and brown kind.) Spaniels are the sweetest and we’ve had cockers growing up. They are calm, loyal, great with kids, and so CUTTTEEEE.
  2. I have a really weird range of music interests. I love indie, oldies, classical, rap, Christian….the one thing I really don’t listen to much is country, but freshman year of high school I had a country stage, so I still have some country that comes up on shuffle.
  3. When I was younger, I really wanted to try out for American Idol when I was 18. If I tried out, my audition song would be “Like We Never Loved At All” by Faith Hill.
  1. The earliest “favorite song” I ever had was “This Kiss” by Faith Hill. My mom would play it every day for me over and over again. That and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. I had a red cowgirl hat that I’d toss around while I sang and danced to it.
  2. My dad used to play a lot of Santana around the house and on his guitar. When I hear Santana now, it’s oddly soothing.
  3. In 8th grade, I had a teacher for history class named Mrs. Countryman and she reminded me of Miss Honey from Matilda. She knew I loved to read so she would give me a book each month to read that was one of her favorites.
  4. If you can’t tell, I LOVE telling stories.
  5. I had a poem published in a children’s magazine when I was 9.
  6. I’ve had mono twice.
  7. I still remember some of my region choir pieces – I was an alto in the treble choir and we sang one song in English, one in Latin, and one in German!
  8. My senior year of high school, I sang the National Anthem for the school baseball team. It was so nerve wracking every time! I don’t think I could do it today.
  9. Cam and I’s first kiss was at the movies. We saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and I remember we kissed when Harry finds the sword at the bottom of the frozen pond. (So naturally I cry now when I watch that part, haha!)
  1. I went to all the Twilight midnight premiers. For the third one, my mom got us tickets for this thing where we watched the first movie, then 15 min intermission, then the second movie, then 15 min intermission, and then at midnight you watched the 3rd one! It was the longest night ever, but so fun. #TeamEdward #TwiHard #WhatASickMasochisticLion

  3. My favorite time of day is sunset.
  4. I have a nervous habit where I pull and twist my eyelashes, and no matter what I do I cannot get myself to stop doing it. There’s even pictures of me as a baby doing it!
  5. I used to hate my name. I think what made me stop was starting a blog that was literally my name. Haha. It’s kind of grown on me! My senior year of high school I went by “Crissy”, but that wasn’t really any better. I only let my family (and oldest best friend) call me “Tina”.
  6. When I get married, I want to drop my middle name and have “Mandujano” (my last name) be my new middle name, so I can always keep it. And it works perfectly because Cam’s last name is Threlkeld. Then my initials would be CMT! And Cameron’s middle name is Mark, so his initials are CMT! Hello matching monogrammed towels!!!! (I think about this way too much.)
  7. I love learning about people I don’t personally know. To me, it’s so cool that all of us are so different, but can have so much in common. Anytime someone does a Q&A or a “Get To Know Me”, I am all over it! So let me know about you ?
