Do You Like Your Apple Watch?

I think my favorite part about blogging is connecting with you guys on social media. Whether it’s a comment on my Instagram post, you sharing a post you love to Twitter, or a Snapchat rant – it’s just what makes the job fun!

I’d say probably 75% of the time that I get a question on Instagram or Twitter…it’s about my Apple Watch!

I dragged my feet about doing a post for 5ever because I feel like I’m not an expert on the subject of wearable tech, but with the holidays coming up, I know many of you are probably thinking about the Apple Watch as a gift for someone or for yourself, so I figured I’d take to the blog to answer my FAQs about it.

The backstory is that Cameron gifted me my Apple Watch for Christmas in 2015. It’s the Apple Watch Series 1, 38 mm screen (the smaller one), and I have the lavender sport band.

Short story: yes, I like my watch. I am someone who is always on the go, and I hate being tied to my phone. I want to throw it in my bag when I’m having coffee with someone and just forget about it. I don’t want it to be a menace while I’m trying to pay attention in a lecture class. I want to plug it in when I get home from school and just study without worrying about who may be trying to contact me.

So my Apple Watch allows me to do all this. When you have the watch on, you can get your texts and be notified of incoming calls. (And here’s where I’m hearing everyone go “yes, yes, we know that much.”)

So yeah!

But I will tell you what I tell everyone who e-mails/messages me about it:

If you would really only use wearable tech to track fitness and/or sleep, I wouldn’t recommend the Apple Watch. It’s not that it isn’t GREAT because it is, but it’s expensive. That’s probably why you’re asking about it, right? Heck yeah! Cuz you’re gonna do your research before you drop a huge chunk of change. So yeah, it’s expensive and if you’re only going to use one feature (i.e. track your workouts using the fitness app on the watch) then you won’t get your money’s worth.

If you’re a busy person who wants to get your calls, texts, track your workouts, message friends, and all that goodness on your wrist…maybe consider it!

I’m not the person that sits by the computer on the Apple launch days watching the new product demos (normally because I’m in class or studying haha) so I can’t tell you too much about the newer versions of the Apple Watch, but I do know that it does more…therefore making it more worth it to get it.

If you’re thinking about it, do what I did and go to your nearest Apple store and try on the watch and ask for a demo! That way you can see how it looks and feels on, and the (smarter than me) Apple store attendant can help you out!

I feel like this was a short post, but I just wanted to get all that down, so if someone asks I can send them to this post for reference. 👍🏻

I hope you’re having a good week so far! I am super excited for my evenings this week because tonight my friend, Karla, is coming over for dinner and to work on a school assignment and then tomorrow night is the premiere of   Season 2 of RIVERDALE! My sis Clara and I are so pumped to watch.

Let me know what you think of the Apple Watch or if you have some kind of wearable tech you love!

X,

Cristina
