How To Reach Your Fitness and Health Goals
Summer has always been my favorite time to set new goals when it comes to health and fitness! I have way more time to head to the gym or go for a run and since most of my favorite fruits and veggies are in season, it’s the perfect time to start snackin’ smart and healthy.
I decided to put together a little guide today with some unique tips on how to get moving and start eating a healthier diet! (Not just saying “look up inspirational quotes” or “use smaller plates”!) And at the end, I’m doing a Q&A so be sure you read till the end.
Buy a cute water bottle
A few days ago I noticed I wasn’t drinking as much water as I normally did. I tend to drink almost a gallon each day and I’ve been doing so for over a year now! I had been drinking out of pretty much any old cup or glass I could find in the house, but I switched it up and started putting my water in a cute, photogenic tumblr. I don’t know what it is, but it worked! I guzzled for the rest of the week and felt so energized.
Get a class package
If you’re one of those people who really need a good reason to work out, why don’t you put some money down on yourself? This may sound a little dangerous, but here me out: I really recommend trying some kind of boutique style workout. (Pure Barre and yoga are my favorites!) For the first class, just pay for the single class. (It’s normally $15-$25) If you enjoyed your experience, go ahead and see if they have a new member deal. I did 5 classes for $40 at Pure Barre a couple years ago and since I had to go to all my classes within 2 weeks, it really got my booty in gear!
Make a new friend
When I first started trying to live a more active lifestyle, I went to the fitness classes at my school’s rec center by myself. After a few weeks, I hated dying during my workout without anyone to laugh with about how red my face was, so I started introducing myself to people I normally stood by in class. I remember swapping life stories with a girl named Emily who always stood next to me at Zumba! I was more motivated to go to class after that because I knew I had a friend there who would totally give me crap if I skipped a class, haha.
Healthy breakfast, always
Eating healthy used to really stress me out. I mean, it’s pretty unpredictable what I’m going to be able to eat each day. Who knows if my family is going to want to hit up the buffet for lunch? Or what if Cam wants to get tacos for dinner? I found that if I started each day with a healthy breakfast, I was giving myself leeway to have a little treat later on in the day. I typically have oatmeal with banana and cinnamon!
Find an exercise in disguise activity
At the beginning of my fitness journey, I loved going to the gym. It was so new to me that I looked forward to going, but after a couple months, the newness wore off and it became so much of a chore. To cope, I started finding ways to workout that felt more like fun so that I could do those activities a couple times a week instead of always going to the gym! I loved going for long walks with Cam around town when we lived in Fayetteville. Now that I’m home for the summer, I love swimming around in the pool with my sisters. It’s good exercise, but it feels more like fun than anything!
Now I asked you guys on Instagram if you had any questions for me so let’s cut to the Q&A portion of this post! 🙂
