Best Dry Skin and Hair Products

I was running the other morning and the temperature was a breezy 64 degrees – it FINALLY felt like fall in Houston. (Just about a month late, ugh! I’ll take it.)

I was running and I began thinking about all the special things about fall that are specifically coupled with that time of year. I’m a person who loves making my own little random traditions like lighting all my fall candles on September 1st and getting a peppermint mocha on the chilliest day I can. Here are a few of my “special fall things” as I’m gonna call them…just so you can get some (fall-themed) fun facts about me.

  1. I listen to my all-time favorite albums in fall. I don’t know why, but they just give me fall vibes. My top favorite is Gavin James’ “Live at Whelans”. Whenever I am running down a path of fallen leaves and “Great Escape” comes on, my heart grows three times its size. My second favorite is Bon Iver’s 0000 Million. Oh my GOSH that album. I love it – I have it on vinyl! The perfect windows down, cruising in fall weather music.
  2. I eat an apple like every day. Favorite fall fruit!
  3. My favorite Halloween movie is Practical Magic. I like it better than Hocus Pocus – don’t hate me! I’m just Sandra Bullock’s biggest fan.
  4. I prefer hot chocolate to a pumpkin spice latte or chai latte most days. (Even though I love those, too!) I’ve been having hot chocolate instead of a second cup of coffee these days.
  5. The perfect fall outfit is anything with my trusty pair of black leggings, haha…currently on the lookout for a new pair because mine have gotten pretty worn out!

Something else that is different in the fall time is my skin and hair. It gets so dry, and I’m surprised by that considering we still have a good amount of humidity here most days. Either way, my skin will get so dry that it burns and my hair just looks like “uhh, did you even try?” Thankfully, I’ve found some great products over the past couple years that are super hydrating for both my skin and hair and I wanna share them with you!

Davines

I had never heard of these products until I started going to my hair dresser Kate’s new salon! She now works out of the cutest (pink!) house-turned-salon and she uses the Davines line of shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, and more. She has even given me a few samples and that stuff is AMAZING. My hair is so hydrated after using it, and my favorite thing is this moisturizer that can remove make-up!

Bioclarity Skin smoothie

I mentioned in my skin care routine post that this is…well…part of my routine! Seriously, the other night I actually was having trouble falling asleep because my skin was so dry and itchy that it was burning. I realized I forgot to use this after washing my face, so I guess you could say it’s pretty essential.

CeraVe moisturizer

If you’re looking for a good drugstore moisturizer, this is it! In fact, you guys recommended this to me a couple years ago when I asked about a good, inexpensive moisturizer. I get the smallest sized one from Target because it’s only like $6 and it lasts several months for me! They also make a version with sunscreen, so if you are looking for that, look no further!

Equate (bascially Aveeno) moisturizer

I buy the Walmart version because gotta #savedatmoney, but we all know it’s the same thing! For some reason, I’ve noticed that running so much lately has been making my feet dry and cracked. (Haha sorry if that’s gross!) And since I’m in the process of saving money for the holidays, I’m not getting regular pedicures. So after I run and then shower, I go ahead and rub this on the bottom of my feet and then put on a pair of fuzzy socks! Miracle. Worker.

Hask hair oil

I’ve been using these since I collabed with Hask about two years ago! I put this in my hair after I blow-dry it and it controls frizz and hydrates. And they’re super affordable! I can’t decide which scent is my favorite, so just get whatever your heart desires. 🙂

Do you have any favorite dry skin and hair products for the cooler months? I’d love to try some new ones!

X,

Cristina
