A Staycation at Hotel Sorella City Centre
If you live under a rock (how do you ever get some sun?!) then you probably didn’t know that my best gal pal Rachel came and visited me here in Houston!
Rachel is my go-to girl for life advice, blogging advice, and outfit advice. We all have that friend that we text “Do you like these shoes with this outfit?!” …right? 🙂 Well, Rachel and I decided it would be fun to see Houston like tourists dropping in for the weekend. The perfect place for us to stay was Hotel Sorella in City Centre. With the shopping, restaurants, and views from the 12th floor, there’s plenty to do – even though we don’t want to leave our room because it’s so glam! Plus, it’s a short drive to downtown, so we were in the optimal place to explore for Instagram opportunities and great food,
Our hotel room and amenities
If you’re a homebody like Rach and I are, then you probably also share a love for hotels. There’s something about coming home by 8 pm, putting on the fluffy hotel robe, putting on a face mask, and just people watching with a handful of m&ms. (No? …..Just us?)
Our room came with a full kitchen! I think for holiday’s like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or New Years Eve, it would be great to staycation here and bring some food from HEB to cook in. You could eat it on the balcony over looking the city! Can you imagine?!….. Please invite me.
This was definitely the perfect place to relax and unwind. It was a true home away from home, but the gorgeous view and glamorous decor made it a true treat. I think I could have sat in my robe watching Food Network all weekend!
Anne Klein chain strap bag is old, but this one here is the latest version and it’s darling!
Here, we had the perfect mix of a vacation and business trip. (And yes – it’s totally a thing!) We could spend our mornings diligently at work on our blogs in our living and dining space and then head down to the shops when we needed to stretch our legs and get some retail therapy. I had such a productive stay and felt totally rested when I got home – don’t know if I can say that for every trip!
My room was so comfy and cozy! I’m totally taking major decor inspiration from here. (That mirror wall hang is to-die for!)
The neighborhood – City Centre Houston
I’ve been coming down to City Centre for shopping, sushi, and macarons since I could drive. (Seriously, ask my dad about the time my friend and I drove up here and didn’t know what the EZ tag line was about, so we flew through without paying our tolls…HA!)
It was great to experience it as someone who was actually staying for the weekend. Rachel and I were able to take the elevator down to the lobby, exit the hotel, and go window shop (or do some damage to our wallets) considering Urban Outfitters and Free People were a hop, skip, and a jump away form us. (See a full list of stores in City Centre here!)
Our first night in, we stopped at Yard House for dinner. (Rachel in true New England fashion was craving a warm sandwich and a drink.) I got the appetizer lettuce wraps with mushrooms, which were super yummy!
City Centre is one of my favorite places to shop because they have all my favorite stores! (And in case you’re curious, that’s Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, LuLu Lemon, Kendra Scott, JCrew, H&M, Charming Charlie….is your mouth watering yet?!)
Rachel and I took our second day in town to wander around the shops and work off our lunch at my favorite Montrose place, The Burger Joint. Staying at the hotel allowed us to see JCrew from the lobby and scout out the places we wanted to pop into from our balcony. Both of us had been eyeing a new bralette from Urban, so that was the first stop and then we fell down the rabbit hole of perusing the new arrivals in each shop.
I rounded up my absolute favorite pieces and trinkets from the stores we popped into!
Well I already gave away my favorite place to grab a (big) bite – The Burger Joint Houston. It’s about a 25 minute drive from Hotel Sorella to downtown, but that’s nothing!
You can see my other favorite spots in downtown Houston in this post. Also, Cam and I have a few vlogs that we filmed (and one was here in City Centre), so you can check those out here as well. Staying at Hotel Sorella allowed us to easily hop on the highway to visit the Museum District and even do some apartment hunting!
I’ll never forget our stay! It was so nice to finally see Rachel after an entire year, collaborate together with our blogging, and explore Houston some more. I’ll definitely be back to Hotel Sorella soon! I already miss my comfy robe and the incredible view.
Where’s your favorite place to staycation where you live?
